What Causes my Hawker Cyclon Battery to Malfunction or Discharge?
While the safety valve feature on Hawker Cyclon batteries greatly reduces the risk of discharge due to over-pressurization, there is still the very slight chance of this taking place. This can occur when the recombining process of hydrogen and oxygen malfunctions; thus causing the gasses to build up excessively. A discharge may also take place if the safety valve becomes corroded or blocked and fails to emit the gasses. In the very rare case that a discharge does in fact take place, there is the possibility of acid spraying out from the battery. However noticeable swelling will begin well before this happens; alerting the owner/user that this particular battery is at risk of discharge. The instant any such swelling or expanding is noticed the VRLA Hawker Cyclon battery should immediately be isolated and discarded.
