| Samsung Markets 8GB Cell Phone - 8/22/2006 |
Samsung Electronics, the world's third-largest cell phone vendor, will start to market a handset this week, which can hoard more than 1,500 music files.
The model, SCH-B570, has an internal 8 gigabyte (GB) hard disk drive that the Seoul-based company claims can carry 1,600 MP3 files, 16 movies and 20,000 photos.
Korean customers can snap up the model at sales outlet of SK Telecom, the country's foremost wireless operator, at a price of slightly higher than 800,000 won ($835).

Motorola Inc. Chief Executive Officer Ed Zander is betting a new generation of super-thin, low-cost phones will help him boost profitability and break the dominance of industry leader Nokia Oyj in China and India.
``This is our chance to go after them,'' Zander said in an interview this month in Schaumburg, Illinois, where Motorola is based. ``We know where the No. 1 gets its numbers. It's these emerging markets, and we have to go in there and go meet them.''
Motorola, the world's second-largest maker of mobile phones, will start shipping the 1/3-inch-thick Motofone, its thinnest product yet, next month as it seeks to build on the success of the half-inch Razr. The first of the Scpl (pronounced ``scalpel'') line, Motofone uses fewer parts, multiple-function chips and more efficient software to cut manufacturing costs.

Having shed its reputation for dowdy design with the hugely popular RAZR, Motorola Inc. now has earned its "tats."
Just in time for Christmas, the Schaumburg technology company will begin selling phones with laser-etched tattoos designed by master tattoo artist Ami James of the hit TV show "Miami Ink."
Motorola executives said the tattoo idea came out of brainstorming sessions on how Motorola could extend the success of the ultra-slim RAZR. The RAZR not only broke sales records, but also traditional black-and-silver color lines, being sold in addition in nontraditional pink, blue and gold. Read More ...
