Lithium Iron Motorcycle Battery
The Lithium-Iron Phosphate battery, also known as Li-Fe, LiFePO4, LFP, or LFX, is a rechargeable battery that comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, right/left polarity options. Lithium-Iron Phosphate Motorcycle Batteries are specifically designed for street, dirt, touring and cruiser motorcycles. These batteries are also great for scooters, ATVs, personal watercraft, riding lawnmowers and utility vehicles.
So why would one choose a lithium-iron battery over a lead acid? Generally these batteries are higher in cost then their lead acid counterparts; however, there are some key advantages that compensate for the higher cost.
Lithium-Iron Phosphate batteries have a higher energy density for weight compared to a lead acid, which results in more cranking power for a smaller size battery. Since the battery is generally smaller, it comes with self-adhesive foam inserts to protect against vibration. Its lightweight design allows you to mount the battery in any position.

Under similar use patterns Lithium Iron batteries have outperformed lead-acid by lasting twice as long. With proper maintenance and under ideal storage conditions, a Lithium Iron battery can last between 5 to 10 years.
Most motorcycle enthusiasts can buy this battery and leave it in their motorcycle without ever using an external charger or battery management system. However, to really optimize and extend the life of a Lithium Iron battery you should use a battery management system as directed by the battery manufacturer.
While Lithium Iron batteries are lower maintenance alternatives to lead-acid, it’s still a good idea to invest in a specialized Lithium Iron battery management system. A battery management system will basically balance the cells in a Lithium Iron battery which will optimize performance and prolong the life of the battery.
