$300 Million Jackpot to Ultimate Hybrid / Electric Car Battery

As the USA struggles against peak gas prices, Presidential candidate John McCain is offering a $300 million dollar prize to whoever develops a superior car battery to power hybrids and electric vehicles.

According to McCain, this new battery will have to “leap frog” the size, capacity, cost and power of current batteries used in today’s electric powered vehicles.

After wasting excessive money in the search for alternatives to oil, McCain is now encouraging heroic efforts in engineering instead.

The Arizona senator is also proposing an increase in fines for automakers that disregard existing fuel-efficiency standards along with incentives to increase the use of alcohol-based fuels such as ethanol.

In addition, a so-called Clean Car Challenge would provide U.S. automakers with a $5,000 tax credit for every zero-carbon emissions car they develop and sell.

These proposals from McCain where in response to Sen. Obama’s call for greater oversight for energy traders. Many economists are speculating an increase between $20 and $50 to the price of oil per barrel.

As John McCain tries to solve the energy crisis with cold hard cash, the public looks forward to a cheaper fill-up at the pump.
