Following at least two reported cases of batteries catching on fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 70,000 lithium-ion batteries used in Hewlett-Packard and Compaq laptops. Owners of Hewlett Packard’s Mini 1000 can now add nearly twice the amount of run-time to their machines as HP has now made a 6-cell battery available for purchase. The 6-cell battery is listed as lithium polymer, 2.4Ah and 53Wh, and currently listed at a price of $153.90.
