FACT: “96 percent of American homes have at least one smoke alarm, 19 percent of those detectors are not working, mostly due to missing or dead batteries.”
Firefighters across the United States are making an extra effort this week (if that’s even possible) to make sure their communities are adequately prepared to prevent home fires and the potential for damage and loss of life that accompany them. Truth be told, this is really a part of the everyday duties of our nation’s great firefighters. But with this being National Fire Prevention Week, a concerted push is taking place to reduce the tragedies that happen each and every year.
The Moorland Fire Department in Iowa is among the organizations who are on the front lines of fire prevention. This week, the firefighters in Moorland are taking to the streets in their neighborhood to raise awareness and make sure their fellow citizens are properly armed with functioning smoke detectors.
As part of our 9v Smoke Detector Battery campaign, Atbatt.com is very proud to be working with the Moorland Fire Department in this cause. To help them in their efforts, we’re donating 20 9v batteries to be installed in the homes and apartments of those in need. However…
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
It’s easy- Just share this post on your Facebook page or click the ‘Like’ button on the top of this post! By doing this, you will be helping solve this problem in 2 very big ways-
- Other fire departments and organizations working in this cause will take note of the smoke detector battery donation program, which will allow them to take part and acquire the batteries they need for their communities.
- Chances are that many of your family and friends have smoke detectors that aren’t working or dead batteries. The simple reminder of just how important this is could make the difference in avoiding real tragedy.
A little effort can go a long way, so please help the Moorland Fire Department and ourselves in getting the word out to as many people as possible.
