Shake, Rattle, and Roll: Volt Battery Undergoes Rigorous Testing
With the future of GM resting largely upon the success of the Chevrolet Volt, and with the success of the Volt largely dependent on the development of a battery that can truly be classified as a ‘game-changer’; GM is doing its best to ensure prospective Volt owners that the batteries powering the new vehicle are nothing short of the best the industry has to offer.
As hundreds of millions, and potentially even billions of dollars are being put toward the research and development of the Volt’s battery, GM is apparently eager to show off the rigorous testing methods being used in this process-
The Volt is expected to be market ready in just about a year from now. A 10 year/150,000 mile warranty is expected to accompany its lithium ion battery, therefore the expectations for the battery will be sky high. Hopefully, for the sake of GM, this testing is going a long way toward developing a battery that can be everything the company needs it to be.
