HP Makes 6-Cell Battery Available for Mini 1000

Owners of Hewlett Packard’s Mini 1000 can now add nearly twice the amount of run-time to their machines as HP has now made a 6-cell battery available for purchase. The 6-cell battery is listed as lithium polymer, 2.4Ah and 53Wh, and currently listed at a price of $153.90.
Doubling up the amount of battery life on our laptops is obviously appealing to all of us. But at what cost? The HP Mini 1000 is currently being listed at right around $350. So with the new 6-cell battery being hawked at $153, you’re nearly paying 50% of what the machine originally cost you for the extra battery life. On top of that, as of now anyway, those who are setting out to purchase and customize a new Mini 1000 can’t just pay the difference to upgrade from the stock 3-cell battery, they would have to go ahead and purchase the new 6-cell separately.
When it comes right down to it, current owners and future owners of HP’s Mini 1000 will just have to decide for themselves the value of the extra battery life added by the pricey 6-cell. Let’s hope that sometime in the near future, HP decides to make just a little less painful to add a lot more life to the Mini 1000.
