Deep Cycle Batteries
Quick Deep Cycle Battery FAQs
What is a deep cycle battery?
A deep cycle battery is designed to provide a steady amount of current over a long period of time. Unlike regular lead acid batteries, a deep cycle battery uses thicker plate which allows it to accept a deep discharge over and over again without causing damage to the cell plates.
How long will my battery life last?
The life of the battery depends solely on how it is used and how the battery is maintained. If the battery is constantly overcharged and/or undercharged, this will also have adverse effects on the life of a deep cycle battery.
To extend the life of the battery, do not store the battery in a discharged state; fully charge the battery before storage. If the battery is not going to be in use for a few months, be sure to periodically check the battery and give it a charge. Once a month should be sufficient.
